Nokia to Install Made in India Wireless Access Devices for Airtel After Securing a Major Contract
The Made in India equipment is best suitable to extend broadband connectivity in challenging terrains thus enhancing overall network connectivity in India.

Nokia and Qualcomm have bagged a contract from Bharti Airtel, India’s 2nd top telco, focusing on the expansion of 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and Wi-Fi solutions to facilitate high-speed internet access to millions across India. Nokia's 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and Wi-Fi 6 access point devices will be manufactured in India and packaged using fully recyclable materials.

Under the contract, Nokia will supply Airtel with its 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) outdoor gateway receiver and Wi-Fi 6 Access Point, utilizing Qualcomm® Modem-RF and Wi-Fi 6 chipsets. Airtel will utilize Nokia's FastMile 5G outdoor receivers, which are tailored for multi-dwelling units and capable of serving two households concurrently, thus facilitating a reduction in connection expenses.  

Airtel: 5G Connectivity in India 

The deployment of fixed wireless broadband access via 5G networks stands out as a significant application of 5G technology, especially in India, which faces low fiber penetration and a high demand for digital services. Nokia's FastMile 5G outdoor receivers featuring high-gain antennas, will enhance broadband access over extended distances while efficiently managing radio resources.

Airtel: Enhancing In-Home Experience

Airtel will deploy Nokia's Wi-Fi 6 access points in homes to enhance in-house connectivity. This solution features intelligent mesh capabilities and a self-optimizing network, delivering seamless and superior broadband coverage throughout the residence.

This will also enable Airtel to provide superior broadband services in areas where fiber connectivity is either scarce or challenging to implement.
