Telecom Minister Drops Key Goals in Crucial BSNL Meeting — Here’s What Happened
Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, the telecom minister of India, emphasizes the need to develop a long-term strategy to retain customers through improved quality of service.

Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, the telecommunications minister of India, meets the corporate team of the state-run Bhartiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on April 15th, Tuesday. The meeting was attended by BSNL's CMD and Head of Circles from across the country. It is amidst BSNL’s ongoing efforts to upgrade its network infrastructure to support India’s 5G endeavors. 

The meeting addressed issues like service quality, strategic customer retention, and customer engagement, among others. The minister urged the BSNL team to become a partner in BSNL’s growth story and vouch for higher customer retention in the ongoing competition among the telcos in the nation. 

High-Quality Service—Key to Customer Retention 

The minister emphasizes the need to develop a long-term strategy to retain customers through improved quality of service. Through this, the minister intends the telco to capitalize on the existing customer base and approach long-term business building through an exceptional quality of service.

Leading Telecom Transformation 

As India is transforming its telecom sector, he encouraged the BSNL leadership to work with renewed zeal. As per the minister, this will help them to become co-drivers of BSNL’s growth story and take charge of leading the transformation.

Changing landscape 

As India’s telecom industry is rampant with cutthroat competition among the telcos, either Airtel, Jio, Vodafone-Idea (VI), or BSNL, this presents a huge opportunity for the state-run telco to gain a good number of customers. This will even establish the telco for long-term business gains, as India’s telecom sector is poised to grow bigger in the coming times with the arrival of 6G and further technological advancements.

The minister’s post on X reads, “Together, we’re working to strengthen our telecom backbone and position Bharat as a global telecom powerhouse.” This reflects the government’s attitude regarding India’s telecom sector and especially a telco of its own—to rule the sector!
