Encouraging Long-Term Research & Reducing Tech Dependency
It aims to encourage private companies to invest in long-term research and reduce India’s dependence on imported technologies. Notably, the government will not offer short-term loans or direct grants under this scheme. Instead, it will provide support through low or zero-interest loans and investments in deep-tech projects. The focus is on enabling businesses to undertake high-risk, high-impact research with long-term outcomes.
PM Modi’s message
At the ESTIC 2025 event, PM Modi stated, “This Rs 1 lakh crore is for you. It is to increase your capabilities. It is to open new opportunities for you. Our effort is to promote research and development in the private sector as well.”
