Bhubaneswar Gets the Top Spot for Public Transport at UMI 2024
This is in recognition of the various improvements the government has instated in the public transportation arena of Bhubaneswar to ensure a safe and accessible public transportation system.

As the Urban Mobility India (UMI) conference 2024 concluded on Sunday, Bhubaneswar grabbed the top spot in the Best Public Transportation. 

Award 


The award was presented to Shri K C Mohapatra, the Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs in the Odisha government, by Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, at UMI, 2024 in Ahmedabad. 

Bhubaneswar’s Public Transport 


The award epitomizes Odisha’s commitment to a sustainable future of Odisha aligned with the vision of a Viksit Odisha, the minister stated. The government has taken several steps to ensure a safe and accessible public transportation system available to all the residents of Bhubaneswar. 

This is in recognition of the various improvements the government has instated in the public transportation arena of Bhubaneswar, the minister asserted. 

Other Recipients  


Other recipients include Bangalore metro- for Metro Rail with the Best Multimodal Integration, Surat - for the City with the Best Intelligent Transport System (ITS), Kochi- for the City with the Most Sustainable Transport System, and Srinagar- for the City with the Best Non-Motorized Transport System, among others. 

UMI, 2024 


Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference, 2024 is an annual event organized by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs through the Institute of Urban Transport (India). It is an expo cum conference on the latest technologies and best practices making up the urban mobility landscape in India.  Around 76 exhibitors from different metro rail companies participated in the event coupled with 67 Indian & 17 foreign exhibitors gracing the show. 

The next Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference, 2025 will be held in Gurgaon, Haryana- as announced by Shri Manohar Lal Khattar jee, the Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs.
