Google Maps is introducing a new feature aimed at easing the hassle of finding parking, thanks to the partnership with SpotHero, a leading parking reservation platform. This integration will allow drivers to search for and reserve parking spots directly through Google Maps and Google Search. When users search for a location on Google Maps or Google Search, they’ll see a “Book Online” button next to available parking options. Clicking the button will redirect them to SpotHero’s website, where they can securely reserve a spot. The feature offers filters for date, time, and additional services like EV charging, wheelchair accessibility, and valet parking.
SpotHero’s collaboration with Google Maps began in April 2024 and has since expanded to include more locations and event venues across the U.S. and Canada. SpotHero currently partners with over 8,000 parking facilities in 300 cities and provides services at major venues, including Madison Square Garden. Mark Lawrence, CEO of SpotHero, highlighted the significance of this development: “Through our partnership with Google Maps, we can support millions of drivers in North America by providing convenient, affordable parking solutions tailored to their needs.”
This new feature aims to reduce the stress of last-minute parking searches by enabling users to reserve spots ahead of time. Parking operators partnering with SpotHero can also benefit from improved space management using SpotHero IQ, a machine-learning-powered platform that delivers data-driven insights. As the most popular parking reservation app in North America, SpotHero has been downloaded by millions of users since its launch in 2011. The expanded partnership with Google is expected to enhance accessibility to digital parking solutions, making city driving more seamless. The feature will continue rolling out across North America and is set to be widely available later this year.
