Revolut’s India arrival isn’t just another fintech expansion, it signals a shift in how money moves for millions. The British firm plans to step onto Indian turf aiming for more than business headlines. It’s making a promise: streamlined payments for an increasingly global generation, all powered by local UPI and Visa’s global reach.

Setting New Standards for Payments
Revolut didn’t sneak in quietly. Announced at Mumbai’s Global Fintech Fest, its launch confirms that India is vital to the firm’s worldwide growth playbook. The company has begun by onboarding 350,000 waitlisted users, opening its doors to the rest soon after.

Seamless from Street Corner to Airport Lounge
The Revolut app packs UPI, prepaid local Visa cards, and international Visa options. This one-stop shop lets users pay for tea in their hometown or a hotel abroad, all through one interface. The platform adds customizable UPI handles, multi-currency wallets, and rewards, making payments flexible and transparent.

Built for the Young and Digital-Savvy
Paroma Chatterjee, Revolut India’s CEO, says the service targets “aspirational youth.” Upcoming features will include child accounts, subscription services, and built-in travel insurance for cardholders.

The ₹450 crore investment in local tech ensures the app feels designed for India, not adapted from somewhere else.

India in the Global Fintech Story
Revolut’s wider plan is massive: $13 billion in global investment, entry into 30 new markets, and the goal to serve 100 million users by 2027. For users, it means everyday transactions are ready to travel as far as they do. With one foot in domestic payments and another in international spending, Revolut’s approach echoes the merging of two mighty rivers- reshaping India’s payment landscape for a new era..
