NVIDIA, the Santa Clara-headquartered multinational corporation and technology company, plans to produce NVIDIA AI supercomputers entirely in the U.S. This marks a historic shift, given that the U.S. has primarily concentrated on services and research rather than large-scale manufacturing. It has already begun the manufacturing of NVIDIA’s Blackwell chips at TSMC’s chip plants in Phoenix, Arizona. The company is simultaneously building supercomputer manufacturing plants in Texas, with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas.

NVIDIA has partnered with companies like TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL to cover various areas associated with the manufacturing segment, ranging from manufacturing to packaging, assembly, and testing. These steps aim to harden the supply chain resilience amidst the increasing global interventions and conflicts among nations.

Current Manufacturing Capacity

NVIDIA, alongside leading manufacturing partners, has committed over a million square feet of production space—dedicated to building and testing Blackwell chips in Arizona and next-gen AI supercomputers in Texas. The two units under construction in Houston and Dallas are expected to ramp up mass production in the next 12-15 months.

Future Capacity

This time, the company has gone fully ambitious to support its domestic inclination. It is set to deliver up to $500 billion in U.S.-based AI infrastructure over the next four years, marking an unprecedented commitment to domestic manufacturing.

Boosting Economic Security

The construction of dozens of gigawatt-scale AI factories is anticipated soon. Domestic manufacturing of NVIDIA AI chips and supercomputers to power these facilities is expected to create hundreds of thousands of jobs and underpin trillions of dollars in economic value for the US over the coming decades.

Bolstering Supply Chain Resilience

Certain events, like COVID and recently the tariff increase and conflict among the nations, eventually affect the supply chain. This affects the overall business endeavors of the company, also costing the economy giant sums. The decision to manufacture locally will strengthen the supply chain, eventually securing business endeavors and bringing more stability and capex into the economy.

Advanced Age Coming to Life

The company will use its cutting-edge AI, robotics, and digital technology to design and run the factories. This includes using NVIDIA Omniverse to create digital versions of the factories and NVIDIA Isaac GR00T to build robots that will automate the manufacturing process.
