OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, expands access to its flagship “Deep Research” tool to its free chatbot users. As the new reign kicks in, Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users now get 25 monthly queries, Pro users get 250, and Free users get 5. The company has taken this decision, considering the popularity and utility of the tool.
To this purpose, the company has specifically developed a lightweight version of the Deep Research tool, powered by its AI model OpenAI o4 mini. The latest o4 mini model has been made to be cost-efficient while preserving the final quality of the output. It means the same computing power coupled with cost-efficient measures. Apart from accessibility, once the users reach their monthly limit, their queries will be automatically shifted to the lightweight version.
Deep Research: Who Can Use It?
It’s designed for people who engage in intensive knowledge work, such as in finance, science, policy, and engineering, who require thorough, precise, and reliable research. At the same time, it’s equally valuable for discerning shoppers seeking highly personalized recommendations for research-heavy purchases like cars, appliances, and furniture.
Deep research: Why so Popular?
It autonomously explores, analyzes, and synthesizes insights from across the web. Each response includes clear citations and a transparent summary of its reasoning, making verification simple. It's especially adept at uncovering niche or non-obvious information that would otherwise require extensive searching.
