Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is reportedly gearing up to launch a voice-based feature for its AI assistant, Claude. According to sources familiar with the development, this upcoming functionality could let users interact with Claude using spoken language — much like they would with voice assistants such as Amazon’s Alexa or Apple’s Siri. At present, Claude operates as a text-based chatbot. However, the addition of a voice mode would align it more closely with features already available in competitors like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. Both of these platforms currently support voice interactions, making this a natural next step for Anthropic if it wants to keep pace in the rapidly evolving AI assistant space.

Internal Testing in Progress

Anthropic is internally testing this new voice functionality. While there hasn’t yet been an official release date, this development is seen as a significant move toward enhancing Claude's capabilities and usability in real-time conversations.

Part of a Competitive AI Landscape

The planned feature points to Anthropic’s ambition to compete more directly with leading AI players in the conversational AI space. Enabling users to speak with Claude could unlock more use cases — from accessibility improvements to hands-free applications — and potentially increase user engagement. As of now, Anthropic has not made any formal announcement about the feature or its expected release timeline. However, with internal testing underway, the rollout could be just around the corner.
