OpenAI has announced a major update for Indian users — free access to ChatGPT Go for one full year, starting November 4. The rollout aligns with the company’s first DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru, which will gather developers, researchers, and AI professionals from across the country to explore the future of artificial intelligence.

What Is ChatGPT Go?

ChatGPT Go is OpenAI’s enhanced version of the ChatGPT platform, designed for users who need more flexibility, faster performance, and advanced tools. Powered by OpenAI’s latest GPT-5 model, the plan offers higher daily message limits, quicker responses, and extended conversation memory. It also enables users to upload and analyse images, documents, and other files directly within the chat.

How to Activate the Free Plan

Activating ChatGPT Go is simple and can be done via the web or mobile app:

1.Visit the official ChatGPT website or open the app.

2. Log in with your existing account.

3.Tap your profile icon and select Upgrade your plan (or go to Settings → Subscription).

4.Choose the ChatGPT Go option.

5.Follow the on-screen steps to confirm. Once completed, the Go plan will be instantly added to your account.

What’s Not Included

Despite its many advantages, ChatGPT Go comes with a few limitations. The plan does not include API access, which remains part of OpenAI’s separate API pricing. Users also won’t have access to GPT-4 Turbo, GPT-4o, or third-party connectors, and tools like Sora, OpenAI’s video-generation model, are reserved for Plus and Pro subscribers.
